Betsson Casino full review

Betsson Casino is well-known in the Nordics but outside this they are maybe not as recognised as the other big-ticket online casinos available to play on the internet, but it still provides a first-class service to its ever-growing base of happy and satisfied customers. Founded in Sweden, this online casino is currently based in Malta where it obtained a license to provide online gambling products in 2006.
The Betsson gambling company owns shares to fellow Swedish company Net Entertainment, one of the top casino game software providers in the world. The website also plays host to other leading names in the software industry such as Microgaming and Evolution Gaming.
You can take full advantage of the many exciting slot machine games and other timeless casino games that are available to play both online and on your mobile phone or tablet device. There are also plenty of rolling jackpots to try your luck at, meaning that you are always in with a chance of winning some seriously big money.

An expanding reputation

Although the name might not be as instantly recognizable as other online casino providers, Betsson is quickly gaining a strong reputation in in Europe. With a proud history that can be traced back to 1963, Swedish betting company Betsson is constantly on the move to expand and acquire business from its direct competitors, making it a force to be reckoned with in the online gambling trade.
In 2011, Betsson bought out all the shares of the Betsafe gambling group, expanding its customer base by a good few hundreds of thousands while also expanding its reach to UK based betting markets. The company also did business with a Chinese state-run betting company to establish a joint venture in online gaming operations within the country – making it one of few betting companies to successfully tap into the Chinese gambling market.
The Swedish gambling giants continue to venture into new markets around the world, ever-increasing its reputation as a seriously top quality online casino provider. To date, Betsson has acquired casino and betting brands across Scandinavia, The Netherlands and Georgia.

A superb spread of slot machines

If it's amazing animations, quality graphics, and silky smooth slot machine gameplay that you're in the mood for, then this is the right online casino for you. The company makes sure of this by going to the likes of NetEnt, Microgaming and Evolution Gaming to get its software. With big names like that working behind the scenes, you are guaranteed to get full on entertainment value for your money.
As for the games themselves, you will be spoilt for choice with a wide selection of different slot machine styles and themes. There are new titles in the video slots section being added all the time as well as a solid selection of timeless classics.
All the important slot machine boxes are ticked, meaning that you can play a variety of 3-reel, 5-reel, 3D animated, classic and progressive jackpot slots. Some of the more popular slot machine games available on Betsson Casino are Mega Fortune, Glow, Starburst, Gonzo's Quest, and Hall of Gods.
Some of the more popular slot machines available to play on BetSpin include the groovalicious Disco Spins, the big-hitting Rugby Stars and the quite frankly weird Machine Gun Unicorn. But hey, whatever tickles your fancy.
As well as the well-known classics listed above – all of which you can find pretty much everywhere nowadays – there are also many slot machines which cater for more niche tastes. Embark on a voyage to the underwater abyss with Eye of the Kraken, enter into the magical realm of Merlin's Magic Respins or explore the wacky wonders of Wonky Wabbits.
You will also be treated to some slot machine reels inspired by the cinema reels with film-themed games such as Jurassic Park, Terminator 2 and Bruce Lee. You can also lay your claim to the Iron Throne with the hugely popular Microgaming designed Game of Throne theme.

Nice one by Betsson Casino

If you happen to get tired of all the great slot machines that Betsson Casino has to offer, then you can explore the many other casino related games available to play on the website. There is everything from casino table games such as roulette and blackjack to video poker and live casino.

Betsson Casino Payments

Even though the casino is run by Swedish operators in Malta, it is still perfectly easy and safe to make a payment to or from you account from any country they accept players from. There are ample payment methods available – including credit/debit cards, e-wallets, and prepaid vouchers – all of which are protected by the website's Verisign certified SSL encryption.

Betsson Welcome Bonuses

Everyone loves a nice little welcome bonus and Betsson Casino has a pretty rewarding one available to new customers. The only problem is, the Betsson Casino welcome bonus is only available to new customers from certian countries.
The €200 bonus is structured as, deposit €100 and get 100% free. You would have to bet 35 times that amount before you would be able to withdraw any winnings. So, depending on which way you look at it, you might actually end up without the hassle of a hefty play-through target.
All customers of the site will be able to take advantage of some rewarding on-going promotions, all of which give you the chance to win anything from a few free spins on the slot machines to vouchers for electronic goodies worth up to €1,000.

Betsson mobile casino

If you fancy yourself a cheeky bit of casino action while you're out and about, you can do so with the excellent Betsson Casino mobile and tablet app. It's readily available to download for both Android smartphones and iOS iPhones and iPads and includes more or less all of the same fun casino features as the desktop version.
So kiss you thumbs for good luck and start spinning to your heart's content wherever you are in the world.

Good casino but where's the bonus?

For a betting company that doesn't get a lot of advertisement exposure (outside Scandanavia) compared to some other online gambling services, Betsson offers an adequately professional online casino service. The software runs smoothly and professionally, just like a truly big name casino site would, but you know that you will be getting a more personal and attentive service when it comes to customer support.

  • The wrestling war is, for all intents and purposes, over. The war between the territories, the ongoing collapse of the territory system, and Vince McMahon’s rise is certainly the biggest story in decades, and at this point the war is over and Vince McMahon has won. Sure, the fighting is still ongoing, but even if JCP can recover from their troubles, the gap between them and WWF is there and it’s just going to keep widening.
  • The biggest story of the week is that WWF has announced its ppv schedule for the next year. March 27 (Wrestlemania IV), August 29, November 24 (Survivor Series), and January 15 (Royal Rumble). Four ppvs doesn’t look like a big deal, just capitalization on the market trend. But it’s going to have a major effect on Crockett. Crockett had been planning ppv shows in early April (Crockett Cup), July (Great American Bash), and November 24 (Starrcade). With WWF’s new calendar and the exclusivity clause in their ppv deals requiring no competing wrestling ppv events 60 days before and 21 days after their shows and the success of Survivor Series and Wrestlemania IV (presumed for that one - Dave expects Wrestlemania IV to be the biggest grossing ppv ever to this point), WWF is putting the squeeze to Crockett. And in doing so, they’re killing any chance Crockett can compete and break into the ppv market. Long-term, ppv is going to mean live gates will be completely insignificant (like it already is in boxing - and hey, in 2020 we have seen the prophecy fulfilled). Because of ppv, Dave expects Wrestlemania IV to gross as much as every other American promotion will gross for the entirety of 1988, combined. Hence why the gap is wide and will only get wider, and JCP will never catch up. JCP’s going to try to counter, and the apparent move will be to shift those events to prime-time WTBS live (or very recently filmed, like a Saturday Night’s Main Event) specials all built as major cards. Starrcade probably will not be among those, Dave figures this will help.
  • WWF’s Royal Rumble came out the clear winner against the Bunkhouse Stampede Finals. The Rumble drew an 8.2 rating and was seen in 3.2 million homes, which is twice as many people as when Georgia Championship Wrestling’s show on WTBS was big several years ago when this wrestling war was getting started. It’s the highest rated show in the history of the USA network, and the encore broadcast on Monday drew a 4.8 rating (a regular episode of Prime Time Wrestling in that time slot usually draws a 2.9). All this means that the repeat showing of the Rumble was probably the second highest rated show on cable during the last week.
  • PPV numbers take longer to get, but it’s possible to make some sense of preliminary reports for the Bunkhouse Finals. The show was likely profitable, purely in terms of money, but the reaction was strongly negative. Early reports estimate the buyrate at 4%, which tells us that if given a fair shot at ppv, Crocket could be profitable with a ppv line up. That’s also encouraging for Crockett, since the card wasn’t strong and the show didn’t have the best heat, but those things may be moot now that WWF has a full year’s schedule set up. Big props to the JCP broadcast team for how well they sold the ppv in advance, because ppv and closed-circuit purchases are majority (90%) last minute, as opposed to house show tickets which are typically bought well in advance.
  • Wrestlemania IV is expected to sell out by the time this issue hits you. Yeah, Dave. By 32 years now. Anyway, about 14,000 seats went on sale to the general public on Saturday and all but a few thousand were sold by the end of the day. The highest price was $150. It’s funny to Dave that despite the crowd discrepancy, WWF may make as much off 14,000 tickets for Mania IV as they did selling 90,000 for Mania III (The April 3, 2000 issue is the earliest I can find for when Dave revised his view of the numbers for Wrestlemania 3). Anyway, the Convention Center is home to Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, and Donald Trump is using Wrestlemania as the centerpiece of a weekend-long event designed to attract vacation families to his casinos, including a Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine concert in the adjacent Convention Center ballroom. So I guess we can put Donald Trump down as the innovator of Wrestlemania weekend. WWF claims Wrestlemania will be available in up to 9 million homes on ppv, and if the show gets a similar buyrate to last year’s then we’re talking around $15 million on ppv, $1 million live, and probably $4-5 million at closed-circuit.
Watch: Dave Meltzer talks about Bresloff telling him 78,000
  • The employment status of the Rock & Roll Express, Michael Hayes, and Steve Williams with JCP has significantly cleared up. The Rock & Roll Express were fired at the Bunkhouse Finals. On January 23, they were asked to do a clean job to Warlord and Ivan Koloff in 12 minutes. Koloff’s been a low card guy recently, and they have been main guys for years, so instead they did the job in 12 seconds (Ricky Morton laid down and let Warlord pin him). Then they flew to New York for the finals, and Dusty learned what happened (he was not at the show on the 23rd) and fired them on the spot. They could be heading anywhere, though WWF is doubtful due to their size. Michael Hayes was fired last week following an incident. He was teaming with Jimmy Garvin and feuding with Ric Flair on the most recent tour; those spots have been taken by Ron Garvin and Sting, the latter of whom is having an accelerated push as a result. Hayes is expected back at World Class, though he did send a resume to WWF. As for Steve Williams, he stayed an extra week in Japan and missed the Stampede. He’s in a contract dispute with Crockett over whether the money he makes in Japan counts against his guaranteed minimum pay from Crockett (Crockett says yes, Williams says no, you’re not paying it so it doesn’t count toward the minimum you are paying him - corporations are not your friends). Williams has disconnected his phone and is out of communication.
  • Cable ratings for wrestling in the fourth quarter of 1987 dropped from the the third quarter. The World Championship Wrestling show dropped from second to eighth overall, and WWF’s All-American Wrestling surpassed it at seventh. Prime Time Wrestling, formerly ranked third, fell to tenth, while the Sunday WTBS show dropped from tenth to twentieth. AWA on ESPN dropped out of the top 20 (it was number 19 in the third quarter). Some of the drop probably comes from the change in how ratings are gathered (enter the Nielsen box, or “people-meter” as it’s known at this point). There’s controversy about this whole way of gathering ratings, as detractors believe that the boxes ensure shows that appeal to women will receive higher ratings than they would get otherwise. Regardless, wrestling shows across the board dropped about 10% in the ratings in the fourth quarter.
  • New Japan’s “Martial Arts Olympic” event in the Tokyo Dome has some hoping it will surpass Wrestlemania 3 for biggest live gate ever. They’ve sold tickets at as much as $220 for ringside and sold out those events, so there’s a chance they could if they price right and sell out. Dave’s been told that Inoki vs. Koji Kitao has the potential to double the gate of Inoki’s matches with Leon Spinks and Masa Saito (each over $700,000). If they can get Taue, that’s probably the best opponent they can get for Inoki to ensure a big draw. I think last week he may have written All Japan, but he's very clear this is an Inoki idea this week.
  • Speaking of Inoki, New Japan recently did a tour in Italy. The big show was January 24 in Rome and drew 8,000 fans. New Japan actually airs on tv in Italy, and Inoki was the big draw, and he pinned Badnews Allen in the main event. Shane Douglas won a battle royal on the show too. These are the first “western-style” pro wrestling matches in Italy since WWF did a show in Milan back in October.
  • Jake Roberts was on Ellery Queen mystery magazine’s cover this month, and Muscular Development did a cover story on Jesse Ventura. The Ventura article is excellent, but mostly about his life and training regimen, and not to do with wrestling.
Jake Roberts on the cover of Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine
  • Genichiro Tenryu won all the major awards in Japan. Tokyo Sports named in MVP of wrestling, and Gong Magazine and Weekly Pro Wrestling gave him the equivalent. He beat Riki Choshu in Gong’s annual popularity poll as the most popular Japanese wrestler (Maeda came in second, so pressure there for New Japan to bring him back). Chigusa Nagayo placed 9th, the first time a woman has cracked the top ten of Gong’s poll.
  • Dave went to the WWF show at the Cow Palace on January 30. It’s his first live show since Japan, and the show drew pretty well, but not as well as you’d expect from a show with a battle royal in the area. The big news of the show were four no-shows: the British Bulldogs (Dave’s heard one of them collapsed at the airport and the other went to the hospital with him), Billy Jack Haynes (his health’s really bad and he’s missed a lot of bookings lately and folks are speculating his career is done), and Bam Bam Bigelow (scheduled to face Ted DiBiase, but he had knee surgery so no clue when he’ll be back). Due to the no-shows, the athletic commission ordered WWF to offer refunds to anyone who wanted them before the end of the second match. He runs down the card: Ron Bass pinned JYD, Ultimate Warrior pinned Harley Race. Warrior’s over big, but still sucks. Ted DiBiase beat George Steele by DQ and Dave alludes to last week’s decision to no longer call matches “abortions” and says “The only word to describe this match is one that has been banned from my vocabulary.” Don Muraco pinned Butch Reed in an okay match. The Jumping Bomb Angels beat the Glamour Girls to retain their tag titles in the only good match on the card (Dave gives it three stars). Noriyo Tateno pinned one of the Girls, Dave doesn’t identify her, saying “you know how it is with those people, they all look alike to me,” which is a pretty solid skewering of people who say that about the Angels and other Asian wrestlers, imo. Ted DiBiase won the bunkhouse battle royal to moderate heat. Hercules pinned Hillbilly Jim. Jim Duggan and Ken Patera beat Demolition and Mr. Fuji by pinning Fuji. Jake Roberts and One Man Gang went to a double countout.
  • By the way, the California state assembly voted 60-7 to reclassify pro wrestling as entertainment and not a sport. So that means once the bill passes the state senate, athletic commissions will have no power over pro wrestling in California, and wrestlers will not need wrestling licenses to work in the state (which was already a joke of a requirement - Dave got a print-out once of all 60 wrestlers licensed in California and major guys like Hogan and Steamboat weren’t on the list).
  • The lineup for AWA’s February 4 show, the last at the Minneapolis Auditorium before it’s demolished, has been announced. Curt Hennig defends the AWA Title against Greg Gagne in a cage match. The Midnight Rockers defend the tag titles against a mystery team (the latest announcement was Nick Kiniski and Kevin Kelly, but Kiniski was let go this week and they’re building to a face turn for Kelly). The rest of the card has Dick the Bruiser vs. Adnan al-Kaissey, Billy Robinson vs. Tom Zenk (particularly interesting since Robinson is in for a one-off but has a reputation as a shooter, as well as competing against Verne as a promoter sometimes, so there’s a chance he may go into business for himself), Wahoo McDaniel and Baron Von Raschke vs. The Nasty Boys, and Billy Jack Strong vs. Soldat Ustinov.
  • Adrian Adonis broke his ankle at the AWA tv tapings in Minot, North Dakota. He was getting whipped into the turnbuckle and stepped into a hole in the ring. He won’t be back for at least two months. Adonis has about 4 months left before he dies.
  • AWA released a song called “Superstars of the AWA.” Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett were in it due to the increased swapping of talent between Memphis and AWA. I could not find the song.
  • Something Dave forgot to mention about the WWF battle royal in San Francisco. Technically there were 19 guys, but only 18 actually worked the match. George Steele came out about a minute late, walked around the ring for a few minutes without getting inside, and then just walked to the back with JYD when JYD was eliminated (JYD was the second out of the match). Dave guesses at George’s age he didn’t want to take the bump or something. Dave recalls a story he heard about an unnamed WWF “neanderthal character” who stalled outside the ring for a complete match, and when one fan yelled to “Get in the ring, you lazy bum” he retorted (despite his character not being able to speak English): “What do you think this is, the NWA?”
  • WWF Superstars tapings were held on January 26 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Barry Horowitz and Steve Lombardi beat Lanny Poffo and Scott Casey, which set up the main event for the second hour of the taping where the Killer Bees beat Horowitz and Lombardi. Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat had a match that ended in a big brawl that got Hercules, Harley Race, Jim Duggan, and Ultimate Warrior involved. The main event of the live show was not taped for tv, but had Hogan and Bigelow going over Andre and DiBiase (Hogan pinned DiBiase). Andre’s contribution to the match was one minute (of nine total for the match) in the ring, and a body slam to Hogan before almost collapsing. Commentary for this taping was not done live, but rather will be done in post-production due to the fact that they’re waiting for The Main Event first, since these will all air after that sets up the angles.
  • Dave hears that the decision on what to do with Hogan/Andre at The Main Event will be decided this week once his filming schedule is determined. If he’s available for weekends, he’ll stay champion through the summer. If not, then a title change will happen and DiBiase is the likely beneficiary.
  • [Stampede] Badnews Allen and Jason the Terrible were fined $200 and $300, respectively, by Calgary City Hall. This is in relation to their brawl in the audience on December 18 that led to a woman in the audience suffering a concussion.
  • Oregon will be holding a special show on February 16 as a Frank Bonema Memorial show. Bonema was the tv announcer from Portland who passed away in 1982 or 1983. They haven’t announced any matches yet, but Curt Hennig is supposed to defend the AWA Title against their Northwest Title holder at the time, and there are plans for a tag title match, a strap match, and a cage match.
  • The February 12 card will be the last card by Continental in Knoxville before Ron Fuller’s new promotion takes over the area from them. The situation with Alabama’s territory continues to confuse me.
  • Nobuhiko Takada beat Owen Hart on January 13 in one of the highlights of New Japan’s jr. heavyweight tournament. As of January 26, here’s the status of the tournament: Koshinaka leads with 34 points (7-1 record), Takada has 31 points (6-1-1 record), Hart at 29 points (6-2 record), Hase also has 29 points. Yamazaki has 24 points (5-2 record), and Yamada is 4-2-1 with 21 points. Kobayashi has 24 (5-1), Saito at 19 (4-4), and everyone else is negligible at the moment. The finals will be on February 7.
  • All Japan is pushing a big show for March 9 featuring Hansen vs. Tenryu. That will be a double title match, as Tenryu puts up the United National Title against Hansen’s PWF Title (Dave expects a double countout. Other matches will include Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Tiger Mask II, Baba and Wajima vs. Kimura and Tsurumi, and others.
  • Giant Baba’s been negotiating with the Funks and David Manning about getting All Japan on tv in the U.S. All part of his angling to help the promotions outside the NWA and WWF against the juggernauts.
  • AJW is building a big match for February 25, Dump Matsumoto’s retirement show. Dump and Yukari Omori (also retiring that night) will face the Crush Gals in a tag match. Also on the card will be a battle royal and Yumiko Hotta/Mitsuko Nishiwaki vs. Bull Nakano/Condor Saito for the vacant tag team titles.
  • AJW’s annual rookie auditions took place on January 17 in Tokyo. 1500 girls showed up, and seven were picked based on their performance in various athletic and endurance drills. Dave says this is one of the main reasons it’s ridiculous to attempt to compare joshi wrestling to any American promotion. Only the top half a percent in terms of athletic ability are chosen for training in the first place, and then “they train them like spartans from the age of 15-17 and by the time they are around 22, if they’ve even survived, they are better workers than virtually all the men.” And with the retirement age of 26, nobody stays on so long they feel stale. Then again, that level of training sounds kind of easy to become mega abusive from a 2020 standpoint.
  • Lots of rumor that NWA’s recent firings aren’t due to discipline issues but due to the company having financial issues. That’s the story those being fired have given. Michael Hayes in particular claims that he and Crockett agreed to a two year deal for $150k per year, but Crockett never signed it and when he pressured Crockett to sign (he wasn’t making money with the contract unsigned), and so he got fired for missing the January 23 show in Cincinnati. Even as Crockett’s financial issues become more and more apparent, they do seem to be recovering at the gate a little.
  • Unlike WWF, NWA’s weightlifting competition used legit weights. All four guys did 460 pound bench presses easy, then Paul Ellering called to move the bar to 600. Animal failed first, and they threw chalk in his eyes and he bled and was “taken to the hospital” and the whole thing came across well.
  • The road to Barry Windham joining the Horsemen (not that Dave suspects anything yet) continues as he and Luger are being pushed as a tag team. Meanwhile, Flair and Sting are set to feud.
  • Dave once again clarifies about Hawk’s line (because apparently he’s still saying it). It’s Neo Maxi Zoom Dweebies, not Neo Nazi Zoom Dweebies.
  • Crockett referee Jeff Goldberg writes in to correct the record on something. In the January 18 issue, a reader wrote in about the December 26 show in Philadelphia and said it looked like the referee screwed up the finish. Goldberg says he acted as instructed, and Flair would not have congratulated him later on if he had screwed up. He also says readers often blame referees for screwing up finishes, but that’s usually the wrestlers who screw up (or the finish is in fact supposed to look screwed up). Referees can be green just like wrestlers, but he’s proud not to be one of them.
  • Another reader tells us that his cable company had Bunkhouse Stampede, but Crockett did a LOLNWA. Crockett announced that Sammons cable would have the show on January 23 (day before the ppv). Except they didn’t air the announcement until 2 pm that day, had given no announcement ahead of that time, and Sammons closed their company office for the weekend at noon on the 23rd.
  • The longest letter this week is all about how Bret Hart deserves a bigger push. Brief version: Vince is making a big mistake by not pushing Bret as a singles star. Even the casual fans buy into him. He’s got promo ability, the ability to make a bad wrestler look good (very important in WWF), and he’d make a great opponent for Randy Savage after an Intercontinental Title change. Give it a few years, Jeff. You’ll get your wish and then some.
  • Crockett’s apparently going to keep two offices open. The Dallas office will be for tv production, and the Charlotte office will remain as the base for talent.
  • Mike Rotunda won the NWA TV Title from Nikita Koloff on January 26, then gave the Florida Title to Rick Steiner. Interestingly, Dusty did a promo referencing the Hogan/Andre/DiBiase title situation and said that in the NWA you can’t buy a title. Well, Dave points out, DiBiase offered $1 million to Hogan for the title, so that seems to be the going rate for the WWF championship for a year. Meanwhile, Rick Steiner got the Florida Title for free, which pretty accurately reflects the worth of that title.
  • World Class drew a crowd of 80 in Houston on January 26. No, you didn’t read that number wrong.
THURSDAY: Hogan drops the WWF Title (really the only big story next week)

Florida to San Jose California, 1964 Corvette, 1986 timeframe

Florida to San Jose in a 1964 Corvette. My buddy spent every penny he had buying it with nothing left over for a tune-up or fresh tires before we took off. (Mistake #1) He picked me up @ Hartsfield in Atlanta at 2 a.m, (long before cellphones....coordinating my late arrival was difficult) we ate at a Waffle House at 3 a.m. and off we went. It was to be all blue highways, back roads, 2-lanes, no interstates or national chain restaurants from that point forward.
A copy of “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” was to be our Bible.
We saw innumerable "See Rock City" signs and drove through the apparent fireworks capital of the free world @ the Georgia/TN border.
The damn Vette kept breaking down, first a clutch in Nashville, later a U-joint near Clarksville. Carb troubles in Nevada. I remember we saw “Weird Science” at the Clarksville theater, long before theaters were all 24-plexes. Afterwards at a bar we told a pair of local ladies we were “Location Agents” in town scouting sites for a film that was going to be shot there. Remember, this was pre-HIV... We were looking for a LAKE that the SUN came up over in the East.......\snicker, snicker**
What surprised us most were the full size satellite TV dishes behind every farmhouse across America. From nothing to 250+ channels with nothing but a check and a bootleg converter. Rural America had gotten wired. Well, dished. News, or what passed for it, was now broadcast 24 hours a day. (Mistake #2?)
Mosquitoes ate us alive at some state park in Arkansas where we’d foolishly chosen to camp rather than get a cheap motel room. We had a cassette walkman to pass the time before sleep came. The waitress at the one cafe in some lonely small town in Kansas assured us “Charlie,” the Frito Lay guy, came by EVERY DAY to refill the rack. We've joked about "Charlie" ever since.
We trailed a shiny stainless Kraft tanker truck across the loneliest highway in America, drafting for better fuel mileage, until he locked up the brakes and turned down a deserted dirt road. Trust me. There were no cows, and no dairies down that road. Must have been Area 51, or something else, cause a “milk truck” had no business being there. Fortunately we just missed creaming his rear bumper.
By this point we were getting around 7 mpg's belching black smoke , until a “19 year Chevy dealership mechanic” in a tiny town in the middle of east nowhere, Nevada, told us “No problem, one bowl on your Holley double pumper has sagged, I’ll file it flat and double gasket it and we were on our way again having barely finished lunch, back into, barely, double digit gas mileage. It was AS IF he had been placed there, just for us.
We camped among the stars in a mountaintop State Park near Eloy, Nevada, decided THIS was the place to hang out after nuclear war. You could see cars approaching from 50 miles away. Big cave, glacier full of icemelt pure water, deer everywhere. Survival city. The gubbmit was inexplicably stringing wire and fiber-optic cables into the cave. Maybe they had the same idea. A tiny casino with two slot machines and some serious alcoholics was Eloy's entertainment offering.
It seemed at every breakdown we ran into JUST the right person to fix the ‘64 for us, although the 10 pound metal glove box door continued slamming into my knees all the way to San Jose. @#$@!!!!
Everywhere we went there was someone wanting to talk to us about the burnt orange, white-striped Vette. Either a parent had owned one, a neighbor or their friend had owned one, or a good friend / cousin had died crashing one. We heard, or shall I say endured, endless Vette stories. (As I do again today, it’s the price of admission).
A fourth and final flat occurred near Lake Tahoe. I was ready to pull my hair out at Dave's frugality. Stopping at endless gas stations looking for ANY used tire that would fit. We were running for home at that point, late on our schedule. I think we did the final 200 miles without a spare.
A fly fishing trip on the South Fork of the North something river outside Denver had been the hi-light of the trip, along with an impromptu color TV repair at the cabin. My buddy pulled a trout out on his first cast, having never fished before. "To catch a fish one must THINK like a fish" he had pontificated,..... and then proceeded to JUST DO IT. Rest of us were amazed. I got skunked by a noob!
A cold solder joint in an old TV was repaired with a nail, held in Vice-Grips, heated red hot over a stove burner. Instantly the football field was green once again. My companion impressed the shit out of me with that piece of wizardry.
Forty years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. We ultimately had to do about 17 miles on an Interstate somewhere in Utah. No way around. There are no road trips to be had, no stories to be gained, blasting 80mph on a superslab and eating in chain restaurants. Never have been, never will be. 2-lanes, diners, cafe's, that's where you see and talk to America.
We learned to take the road less traveled and to take ALL the time needed with everyone who had a story to tell us. We didn't take nearly enough (film) pictures. Mistake #3.

Part 1: Inferno Write-Up Here
This thing's long- read on Google Drive here. No offense is intended to any of the players whose characters Jovakri may insult in this. You Know What You Did.

(This report is written in cramped handwriting which packs the page. In the margin of one of the pages there is a detailed pencil sketch of a spear with intricate filigree work up the shaft. There is a messier sketch of Jovakri’s horse Starfall on the back of the first page.)
Party:
Jovakri, Paladin (Self)
Starfall, Celestial Warhorse
Okko, Monk
Vierna, Cleric
Lance, Rogue
Hammer, Paladin
Blingo, Barbarian
We arrived on the island at ten in the morning and climbed until noon to reach Dasmond’s hut. He told us about an invisible wall that stopped him while he was trying to climb the mountain to do his job. The mountain became rockier as we climbed above the treeline. (Most likely 12,000 feet by my estimate of the climate.) We eventually came to the “wall,” a barrier which yielded as we pushed through it and transported us to a massive stone room with eight portals leading out in front of us and one behind. There was a crowded bar in the center of the room, built around a massive stone spire. I sensed that, unlike the undead and whispering ghosts which populated the Inferno, the patrons at this bar were celestial.
Our party spoke to an incredibly useless human man, who refused to answer any of our questions. I then called over one of the bartenders, who was slightly more useful but refused to believe we were mortal and laughed at us when we asked which direction we should go and simply said that we needed to “earn our way out” but that no one had ever done so before. After several minutes of arguing, he phased into the stone spire and disappeared.
Hammer slipped off to speak to a different bartender, and discovered that we were in Purgatorio and that the currency used here was “soul gems,” found within the different levels beyond the portals. When we caught up to Hammer, he relayed this to us, and Okko- the only member of our party who could interpret Celestial runes- discovered that each of the portals was labeled with the name of a sin. The original bartender returned, much more politely this time, and tried to explain that there had been a mix-up before urging us to go try to win our way out through the different levels.
Both of the bartenders we spoke to agreed that the only way out of Purgatorio was to collect the stone with the symbol of each level by defeating the challenge within, and once we had eight stones we could progress to Paradise.
Okko finally managed to convince Hammer away from the bar. I think we could well have gone on without him, but he hadn’t managed to buy a drink yet so he was at least halfway useful.
In the level of Pride, we found a garden full of statues, and a temple. Many of the celestial-ghosts were staring up at statues of them, in great puzzlement. We talked to the first person we saw, a dark-haired human man who told us we had to destroy our statues. Vierna and I went out and found our statues, and I asked Starfall to strike the statue with his hooves. When he did so, rearing and bringing a hoof down onto the arm, I felt a crushing pain in my own arm. I considered simply powering through and continuing to destroy the statue, healing myself as needed, but I saw the rest of the party heading towards the temple and decided instead to rejoin them.
Inside the temple, we met the Sage of Pride, who told us we needed to give up something we were proud of. Starfall and I decided to go through with it first, because if there were negative effects he had withheld from us I would rather they fall upon me so I could warn the rest of the party. I found myself in my memories, watching myself fight the vampire which had been corrupting the population of a wilderness island. Suddenly, I was back in the temple, with the vampire still in front of me. My friends had been silenced, and when I investigated to see whether it was an illusion I sensed that it was celestial in nature. I moved to extinguish Wavebreaker and draw my silver sword instead, but the vampire sprang and I rekindled my sunblade just in time to block its blow. It crumbled into ash, and when I properly awoke I found that nearly half of the notes in my journal had been wiped away. I had to rewrite the description of this quest from scratch.
I told the rest of the party that I was fairly certain the Sage of Pride was showing us illusions, and once I saw the others undergo the test I was sure of it. The only one who concerned me was Vierna, who began to back away from whatever it was that she saw. I am Kalashtar, and whether we like it or not we are subject to influence by the emotions of others, and I could feel the fear of death radiating off of her. She appeared to calm down afterwards, and I did not bring it up.
The Sage gave us water to pour on our statues, which crumbled to reveal soul gems and, in Blingo’s statue, a smooth, palm-sized stone marked with a glowing celestial symbol which Okko translated as “Pride.”
In the level of Greed, the Sage of Greed met us at once and told us that we could trade him 5000 soul gems for the stone. As the rest of the party progressed, he pulled Starfall and myself aside and told us to be careful, for it would be easy to become trapped in this level. I said nothing, but went after my friends and told them through my mindlink to be wary.
We found ourselves in a massive casino packed with people, and there were solid walls of slot machines filling one half of the cavern. I swung onto Starfall’s back to get a better look around, and saw that a crowd was gathered around a shallow pit on the other side of the cavern. Most of our party went in that direction, and found that there were lizard races going on in the pit. I contributed most of my soul gems while the party gambled on the lizards and promptly lost most of our gems. I secured the Pride stone from Blingo to keep him from gambling it away, and put it in one of my interior pockets.
(This passage is accompanied by a detailed pencil illustration of an iguana-like lizard, with notes written in Quori pictograms on the edges of the picture.)
Okko and Lance left to bet on the dice games, where Lance attempted to use a minor illusion to cheat. Unfortunately for him, the host was a celestial and did not even notice that he had tried to cast an illusion on the dice.
Vierna, Starfall and I began to investigate whether we could win some soul gems using Vierna’s Probability Coin. Starfall nosed my shoulder and pointed me towards a door which had opened in the side of the cavern, into which some of the celestials were wheeling carts loaded with soul gems. We went to find Okko and Lance, and then after about ten minutes managed to drag Hammer and Blingo away from the slot machines. It’s a wonder to me how Hammer is as highly ranked in the guild as he is.
Once we explained that we knew where the vault was, we sent in Lance to investigate. I mindlinked him and told him to be careful and not take more than we needed, because it was likely that either he would be trapped or that we would fail the test of Greed.
As I understand it, he did not listen to this warning at all.
After about three minutes, Okko went in to find him. Vierna, Starfall and I waited to see whether there was trouble. As I understand it, they had to kill several mimics in order to access the vault. After several more minutes, they reappeared with two chests full of bags of soul gems.
(This passage is accompanied by a quick sketch in the margin identifiable as Vierna.)
Once the party reconvened, we brought the 5,000 soul gems to the Sage of Greed, who gave us the Greed celestial stone and then cautioned us to leave any other earnings on the level of Greed and not to try to take them past the portal. I saw Lance trying to pull out a chest containing our surplus soul gems, and Okko and I tried to convince him to leave the chest and come through the portal with us. Eventually, I gave up and sent Starfall to block the rogue’s way while I made sure that everyone else was able to make it through the portal. Once I was through, I recalled Starfall.
Okko and Vierna worried that Lance would be trapped inside the level of Greed, and I said that it was his own business whether he tried to pull the chest through or not. Lance suddenly reappeared, and all six of us felt a stabbing pain in our chests as the bags of soul gems melted out of his hands. He asked Vierna for healing, and she refused. Then he said it was “worth it,” seemingly not noticing that his soul gems had evaporated. At this point I punched him.
I will strongly advise Bureaucracy the next chance I get not to send Lance on any more guild quests. He is a danger to anyone else on quests with him and has not seemed interested in actually accomplishing the objective of any quest I have seen him on. Having said that, I am prepared to make reparations to the guild if need be for punching him.
In the Wrath level, we were faced with a wall covered in intricate wrought-iron carvings of agonized faces and pressed-together bodies. They seemed to move as we looked at them, and I was unable to produce an accurate replication of them in my sketches. Unlike the first two levels, there did not seem to be any of the celestial ghosts here- although the wall stretched infinitely far in all directions, so they might have simply walked along the wall out of sight. Okko and Lance began to race up the wall, and were rapidly lost in the mists which ringed the top of the cavern. Blingo struck the wall with his whip, and at once a lash of liquid metal hit back at him and knocked him to the ground.
I pressed my hand against one of the faces on the wall and attempted to heal it, and at once the faces warped into a more relaxed cast. Beside me, Vierna cast a spell onto the wall and the interlocked limbs and faces began to loosen slightly. Blingo poured a health potion onto the wrought metal. Meanwhile, Vierna knelt beside the wall and pressed her palms against it, murmuring to herself in Elvish. Okko and Lance returned, reporting that the wall seemed to rise infinitely high, and as they stepped off of it Vierna finished her prayer and the entire wall opened to reveal the Wrath stone on the other side.
We continued on to the level of Lust, and I could tell that many members of the party were feeling more confident about our ability to secure all eight stones. In Lust, we came through the portal into a plain white room, and the Sage of that level told us that we would have to give up our greatest desires to receive the stone.
At once, the room melted away. I know a little about what some of the other members of my party faced- Lance says he was in a room full of gold, but he ascertained that it was an illusion. Vierna found herself in the town and the great hospital-temple of Bahamut which she had wanted to build since she was young, and when she entered the temple she found herself in the presence of the soul of the dragon god. Blingo only said that he saw his father.
The only thing I can say for sure is what I saw in my vision. I was in a field filled with the corpses of vampires, flaking into ash beneath the rippling light of the Wavebreaker. There was a vampire lord in front of me, smiling a wide gash of a smile from ear to ear, and I saw my family chained behind him. I struck him down, but he turned to mist and fled westward and I did not follow. All my family was unhurt, unbitten, though bruised and blindfolded. I broke apart their chains. My mother seemed confused at what had happened, and a little surprised to see me- but she was there.
I did not ask if they were proud of me, because I was afraid to know what the answer might be.
I will admit it now, that I would have stayed in the dream forever, or until my body gave out. I do not feel it a breaking of my oath- if my family were unharmed, if I still lived in a farming village on the edge of the Empire of the Hawk, if I were- the point is. I would have nothing to swear vengeance upon. The Oath and my family exist in the same space in my heart.
And then my mother melted away, and I found myself again in the white room, on my knees and alone again save for the Oath and the voice of warrior Vakri in my mind. I felt that Vierna was resting her hand on my shoulder, but I did not have the strength to look over at her. There was great turmoil coming off of her as well.
Before vanishing, the Sage told us to “Seek out the Sage of Cosmos.”
When we finally made it out of Lust, we had to take a moment to steady ourselves before pressing onwards. The level of Envy was, again, simple in its layout. There was a floating orb of light on a plinth, and when I passed my hand through it it seemed to solidify into the hilt of a golden sunblade. Hammer at once said it was a hammer, and began to draw nearer to me with a clear look of interest. Vierna said it looked to her like a symbol of Bahamut, so I at once asked each of my companions what they saw. We all saw something different- a sword, a whip, a holy symbol. (Starfall said that, like me, he saw it as a sunblade.) I replaced the sunblade on the plinth, to see whether it would turn into the Envy stone. Someone suggested that perhaps the trial of Envy required us to fight, but I said instead that any kind of competition would work. I carry a dragonchess set in the bottom of my pack, and I did not remember it until just then. In the end, though, we ended up playing rock-paper-scissors for the mysterious item. Hammer won, but when he picked up the item nothing happened.
Finally, Vierna suggested that we all simply walk back out through the portal. As we did so, the Envy stone appeared in the pocket of the robe she wore over her armor.
In Sloth, we were required to solve a puzzle by running across tiles. The Stone of Sloth hung in the air on the far side of the tiles, and every time Okko tried to reach his hand out to take it he reported feeling painful paralysis spreading up his fingers and eventually his arm. After trying several patterns, we discovered that to pass the test we had to light all the tiles as fast as possible by running across them and then seizing the stone.
The final remaining level was Gluttony, which seemed to be a great banquet hall with a long table stacked with food. Like the last several levels, this one appeared to be empty except for our party. There was an inscription in Celestial at the head of the table which Okko translated as “clear the table.” At once, Hammer flipped the table on its side, sending the food crashing to the ground, and we were given the Stone of Gluttony.
Our next step was to secure the eighth stone, and we went back to the central spire to ask where it might be found, since there were no portals left. The bartender took us back behind the bar and told us that we now had enough of the stones to speak with the Sage of Cosmos, and that all we had to do was touch the spire to be transported to him. When we put our hands upon the spire, we found ourselves suddenly in a high-ceilinged room that was not unlike the library on the Argo- there were shelves filled with books, and large chests here and there along the walls. At the far end of the room, a celestial in the shape of a young, red-haired elven man sat at a desk amongst piles of paperwork and filing folders. He was writing busily, and all of us saw golden manacles marked with runes wrapped around his wrists.
The young man introduced himself as the Sage of Cosmos, but nervously told us not to ask too many questions so that we wouldn’t be overheard by a being the Sage only referred to as “Him.” He said that this being had come into Paradise and overturned the hierarchy there, which was resulting in turmoil that spilled out onto the Material Plane in the form of the nightmares of the Inferno and the sudden appearance of a portal into Purgatory.
When we questioned the nervous Sage further, he said that he feared for the souls in Purgatory, and that it had once been easier for souls to pass up into Paradise before “He” took over the system- but as it stood, we were the first to have made it in many years. However, the Sage finally told us that if we defeated him, we would be able to pass into Paradise and try to kill “Him” and set the order of the Inferno, Purgatory, and Paradise back to rights. I was a little suspicious of this, and asked if anyone had been in charge before “He” came in and took over Paradise. The Sage of Cosmos said, with some irritation, “It was me.”
(Note: During this conversation, he also tried several times to convince Lance to open one of the chests. Lance seemed unsettled by this invitation, and refused.)
Reluctantly, we agreed to fight him to win the Stone of Paradise. He drew a spear, and attacked at once with a rain of magical chains from the walls and ceiling. The way he moved- was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It was as though the floor itself repelled him, so that he could move and leap effortlessly. When we began to wear him down, he perched on top of one of the bookshelves, and suddenly there was a light like the dawn. I closed my eyes, but I could feel the skin on my cheeks and fingertips burning and starting to blister. When the light faded, I noticed that most of my companions looked staggered, and had the same flashburns across their faces and around their eyes.
Since my radiant attacks did little damage, I took over healing and began supporting Okko and Blingo as they continued to attack the Sage. Lance was struck by the spear and bled out, falling unconscious off the wall that he had clambered up. Vierna revived him, against my advice, but he was immediately caught by the enchanted chains and was unable to break free.
Starfall was caught by the chains once, but was easily able to shake them off. At last, the Sage put down his weapon. I had been worried that we’d wound him severely, but he seemed breathless and slightly bloodied but still in good form. He gave Okko the final Stone, which had the celestial symbol for Paradise inscribed on it, and told us that when we were ready we should gather a group of adventurers to defeat “Him” and fix the anomalies that were leaking into our plane.
This is accompanied by a sketch of an elven man with long, swept-back hair and glasses, as well as a reproduction of some of the binding runes inscribed on the manacles.
TL;DR: Our party journeyed through a series of enchanted caverns to defeat challenges related to the different sins. I’m sorry for any ramblings in the text- seeing my family shook me badly. We spoke to and then dueled the “Sage of Cosmos,” who told us that the odd occurrences in our plane were caused by a coup in Paradise by something called “Him,” who had overthrown the Sage. We now have the eight celestial Stones which we need to bring a party into Paradise, and will do so as soon as all our strength is gathered.

(In the bottom margin is written- Blessed are the children of the sea.)

Russian mobsters charged with trafficking 10,000 pounds of stolen chocolate

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 31%. (I'm a bot)
NEW YORK - More than two dozen members of a Russian organized criminal group have been charged with committing several offenses, including trafficking 10,000 pounds of stolen chocolate across the country, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.
According to federal court papers, the FBI's Joint Eurasian Organized Crime Task Force arrested 27 members of the New York City-based group - called the Shulaya Enterprise - on suspicion of racketeering, wire and credit card fraud, narcotics trafficking, firearms and stolen property offenses.
"The dizzying array of criminal schemes committed against this organized crime syndicate allegedly include a murder-for-hire conspiracy, a plot to rob victims by seducing and drugging them with chloroform and a fraud on casino slot machines using electronic hacking devices."
Authorities say the group operated under the direction and protection of two men, named Razhden Shulaya and Zurab Dzhanashvili.
The complaint states the Shulaya Enterprise operated out of New York, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, Nevada and other locations overseas.
Many of the group members were born in the former Soviet Union, but authorities believe they regularly visited and communicated with associates in Georgia, the Ukraine and the Russian Federation.
