Any Nintendo Switches in stock in town?

I’m bummed, I drove to a Target that indicated online they were in stock, but they aren’t. Anyone know where some may be in stock?
Update: Found some at the Walmart on Dunvale, for anyone wondering the same. Also, Target on Westheimer does have some Lites in stock, but will release them “first come first serve” the morning of the 10th.

Why Superman 64 is objectively better than Pokemon Sword and Shield

  1. Superman 64 looks like it had actual effort put into the models and stuff, Superman's model looks really accurate unlike anything in Sword and Shield every single thing in Sword and Shield looks like an Atari 2600 game, no exceptions, none. The models in Sword and Shield OBJECTIVELY look like Atari 2600 models! And if you don't think that, you're not a Pokemon fan, unlike me!
  2. In Superman 64 Lex Luthor makes Superman fly through rings and pick up cars, which is engaging gameplay, objectively unlike Sword and Shield's crappy crappy bad gameplay, it pales in comparison! It is so sad that a licenced Nintendo 64 game does everything better than Sword and Shield! I would rather fly through rings a hundred times then do a crappy boring Max Raid battle!
  3. Superman 64 has the National Dex! National Dex Luthor that is! Yes, I know Superman 64 doesn't have the National Dex but it does in my heart. Every game in existence has the National Dex in my heart except for Sword and Shield which doesn't. Sword and Shield objectively bad.
  4. The controls in Superman 64 are good they're not in Sword and Shield I'm correct because I'm correct
  5. Sword and Shield is piss easy you can beat it in less than one second but Superman 64 has CHALLENGE! It's hard to fly through the rings against the time limit because of the good controls and the instructions for picking up the cars only appear for a few seconds so you have to use your bigbrain but Sword and Shield makes you dumb because it autoplays you don't even move the sticks, unless JoyCon drift which is Game Freak's fault YES IT IS NOT NINTENDO'S FAULT IT'S SPECIFICALLY GAME FREAK AND SWSH'S FAULT, MASUDA PERSONALLY CAME TO MY HOUSE AND ORDERED ZACIAN AND ZAMAZENTA TO MAKE MY JOYCONS DRIFT
  6. Superman 64 was not made by Game Freak which automatically makes it better because Game Freak bad
  7. Superman 64 only costs £30 used, and a Nintendo 64 costs £100 used, but Sword and Shield cost £45 each new, that's £90, plus £27 each for DLC, plus Nintendo Switch online which Game Freak sets the price for obviously, plus the Nintendo Switch new we have to be fair we did compare the price of a used Nintendo 64 to a new Switch, and we have to play it on Switch not Switch lite because we won't be able to see how bad the graphics are, plus a TV, plus internet, plus your house, plus your furniture, plus the money your parents spent raising you to be at least 7 years old to play the game, it adds up! That makes Superman 64 £130 and Sword and Shield £ilostcountbutitsbig EACH. That makes Superman 64 worth the money and Sword and Shield not worth the money.
In conclusion, Sword and Shield doesn't even qualify as shit! It's like the equivalent of shit takin' a shit! It is unspeakably, shockingly bad. It's sickeningly LOATHSOME! It's a fuckin' suffering to the mind! It's a bunch of fuck, and it doesn't belong on this planet! And that's why I am setting out to destroy every copy of Sword and Shield and if it's digital deleting it and taking it down from the eShop, we should replace all copies of Sword and Shield with Superman 64 and the world would be so much better and everybody would be so much happier!

Help me understand this please?

EDIT: Thank you all for the outpouring of helpful information!!! I have set up a Nintendo account, and then added user profiles for each child, complete with the parental controls app so I can monitor playtime and activity.
I do have two games, a Harry Potter game and Animal Crossing. I think I'll be paying the $35 fee for a family online account since there seems to be a general concensus that there are many free games there, and sales I can take advantage of when they pop up. We will try it for a year, and see how it goes.
Again, thank you, I'm super grateful for all the help I've been given. Merry Christmas!
Hi Reddit friends,
I am a mom who has had very little exposure to video games. I don't know anything about setting up consoles or profiles.
My kiddos (10 and 7) were begging for a switch or switch lite all year, and I finally found 2 switch lites, just in time for Christmas. They're going to be thrilled, and I can't wait to see their faces!
My problem: the last time I played Mario of any kind was in the early 90's and it was a simple, put in the cartridge and play the game. Now, there is wifi involved, a play store type thing? Profiles? Some games only work with internet? There is a yearly membership?
Can someone please explain these things to me? I don't want to get suckered into paying tons of money for memberships and things that the kids won't use or get a lot of use out of. They are not huge gamers, they're young kids.
What do you suggest for a 10 year old and 7 year old who have played a regular switch before at their friends house and have basic knowledge of how to use it?
Thank you so much in advance for any help. I'm feeling really out of my comfort zone right now!

Opinion: Nintendo should port over Wii Sports Club from the Wii U to fill the Wii Sports void on the Switch.

Opinion: Nintendo should port over Wii Sports Club from the Wii U to fill the Wii Sports void on the Switch.
Many people have been looking for a new Wii Sports style game on Switch, so my idea was that Nintendo should port over Wii Sports Club from the Wii U, as they've done with many other Wii U games.

The game I'm talking about if you're unaware.
If you don't know what it is, Wii Sports Club is essentially a remaster of Wii Sports with a few enhancements like Gamepad functionality, and the big one: Online play.
Now, there would obviously be a few hurdles to overcome in making this come to Switch.
  1. The Gamepad functionality. Several sports, such as baseball for pitching and outfielding, and golf, for swinging, relied on the Gamepad. There's a few solutions I thought of; One, they could just make these sports more similar to the original Wii versions and just remove the Gamepad sections entirely, or two, they just re-do them to work better with the Switch's motion controls.
  2. The name. It has "Wii" in it. I have a few solutions to this, too. One, as many have suggested, simply rename it to "Mii Sports" or "Nintendo Sports", or two, just leave the name be. Nintendo proved with the port of New Super Mario Bros. U that they aren't afraid to leave parts in the name that would imply it is for another console, so I think them leaving "Wii" in the title isn't too crazy.
  3. How would it work in handheld mode? My idea was that it just flat out wouldn't work in handheld, and only work in tabletop and docked.
Now, hurdles out of the way, what would be great about a port of Wii Sports Club?
  1. I think this one is rather obvious. As stated, it would help fill the gap in casual Wii Sports like games that 1-2-Switch and Clubhouse Games couldn't fill.
  2. Having online on Wii Sports Club would be much better on Switch than it ever was on Wii U. Allow me to explain, due to the low userbase of the Wii U, it was hard to get online matches, even around when the game released (This is just based on my experiences, it may differ for you.), so having it on Switch would mean (assuming the game sells well) that it would be much easier to get online matches, which would be great!!
  3. Wii Sports styled games make sense on the Switch. The motion controls on the Switch are much better than they ever were on the Wii, which could mean games like boxing would finally control great!
  4. Now here's the big one: A success of a Wii Sports Club port would prove to Nintendo that people are still willing to buy a Wii Sports style game, which could mean we would get more Wii Sports styled games, like maybe a new Wii Party, a Wii Play Motion sequel, or the best thing humanity could hope for; a Wii Sports Resort sequel!!!
Anyways, those are just my thoughts on a Wii Sports Club port. I want to hear what you guys think about this, so please let me know what you think about a potential Wii Sports Club port! :)
EDIT: I was trying to respond to everybody when this post first appeared, but I can't do that now that I just woke up and there is 132 notifications, haha. Sorry.
Also, I should add this: I'm not asking for a port over a new game, read past the title. I want a Wii Sports Club port so it proves to Nintendo people will still buy Wii Sports styled games, and they will make more. Also, I don't want it to be 60$. I'm not even sure where you guys got that from. The original (digital) version was 50$ for all the sports, so that would make more sense.
EDIT 2: If I had a dollar for every time somebody commented "No more ports" without actually reading the post I'm fairly certain I'd have enough to buy a Switch Lite........

FAQ to help new users know where to start and what software to choose

Q. Can my Switch / Serial number be hacked? A. Check here: https://ismyswitchpatched.com/ If it shows as unpatched then its hackable out of the box, regardless of firmware. If its patched then you will need a modchip. ALL Mariko (red box) and Lites are patched.

Q. How do I mod my hackable system? I don't know what guides to use
A. Use this guide specifically for entering RCM. Do not use this guide to set up cfw if you intend to pirate games, it does not include things like sigpatches or installers which you will need. Use Birb's guide to set up your modded system once you are in RCM. Do NOT use video guides. They are generally full of misinformation, outdated information, bad advice and stupid configurations.

Q. How do I prevent bans? A. Keep your sysnand completely clean, only use homebrew/backup games on your emunand and make sure you either have incognito installed on the emunand or its completely offline.

Q. What is an emunand? A. Its essentially a copy of your system that can be modified separately of the original. If you install homebrew to one of them it wont affect the other. Emunand is NOT the same as cfw.

Q. What happens if I get banned? A. Youll lose access to playing games online and accessing the eshop. Generally accounts are not banned and you can still update the system through nintendo, although this is discouraged.

Q. How do I update? A. Download the latest compatible firmware here https://lmgtfy.app/?q=darthsternie Extract to a folder on your sd card, named firmware for example. Then select the folder in your updater app (for atmosphere its recommended you use daybreak, for sxos choidujournx is the usual app). Choose the exfat firmware regardless of sd format.

Q. What format should my sd card be? A. Fat32

Q. But how do I install big games from a fat32 sd card? A. Most people either install over a usb cable (with tinfoil and nut or awoo and nsusbloader) or over shops. If you dont have a usb cable, ftp works as well.

Q. What are shops? A. Shops are basically online collections of games that you can browse and install similarly to how you would on the eshop. They are accessed through tinfoil.

Q. What cfw should I choose? What are the pros and cons? A. Atmosphere is the popular choice right now. Its pros include being free, constantly updated and having a lot of community support. Its cons include not having any out of the box support for installing games, so you need to add sigpatches yourself once they are out.
Sxos is another popular option, and the only option currently for modchip units (although atmosphere is working on support). Its pros include being made directly for piracy, so it supports installing games out of the box and it can load off of external hard drives. Its cons include being paid and being a questionable choice at the moment. Due to multiple members of the group being arrested its unclear if it will receive much more support.
The last modern cfw is reinx. Reinx works out of the box with games and it is free. However it is now no longer being updated and it has fewer features than atmosphere.

Q. Where do I get games from? A. For shops you should check out JITS and Quota shop. Those should provide you with easy and safe access to games. Rebirth is discord server that provides gdrive and tor links to full game stashes for download on pc. Theres multiple websites you can find by googling, and you can find large libraries via torrents. Most torrents and websites will be hosting 'scene' dumps, groups like venom or suxxors, who release privately to ftp servers with other scene groups. These dumps get rehosted to private torrent trackers, and then websites will upload them publicly.

Q. Why are my downloads failing? A. You should probably ask the source of the download. If thats a shop then join the shop discord to ask.

Q. Why wont my switch boot? A. Most likely its in rcm, try injecting a payload. If its not in rcm then its probably just out of battery. Bricking the switch canNOT prevent it from accessing rcm and hekate, so if you cant get into hekate then it isnt bricked. Youre doing something wrong or you broke the physical hardware.

Q. Can I transfer save files between sysnand and emunand? A. Yes. Transferring from sysnand to emunand is easy. When you make the emunand the saves should transfer automatically. After that you can go offline on the sysnand, make a nand backup, run cfw on it to dump the save and then restore the backup. This way the nand will be completely clean. For going the other way around its a bit harder. You can dump the sysnand and inject the same on your computer into the nand before restoring it, but this cannot guarantee you wont get banned.

Q. How do I unhack my switch? A. If you use emunand then its as simple as not booting into rcm. If you use autorcm then disable it in hekate. If you do not use emunand then youll need to format your console with something like this https://github.com/StarDustCFW/Haku33

Q. What are the different game formats? A. The 'standard' format people most often use is nsp. This is the common format used for eshop games. Another common format is xci, which is a gamecart dump. Any cfw can install nsps OR xci to the console to run like an eshop game. However, sxos can also mount xci as if it was a gamecart instead of installing it to the home screen if thats something youre interested in. There is also nsz and xcz, which are compressed versions of nsp and xci which save space and bandwidth. They can be directly installed, the same as nsp and xci, so they are considered objectively better.

Q. What installer should I use? A. Currently theres a few popular installers. The most popular right now is tinfoil, which can be found at tinfoil.io. It has the most features of any of the installers, being able to run shops, manage save games and cheats, link accounts, install incognito, hdd support and much more. It supports installing any of the 4 game formats mentioned above.
Next we have awoo. Awoo is a popular installer that is based on adubbz tinfoil's install code and xortrolls gui. It is the most popular lightweight installer, being able to support every format the same as tinfoil. An alternative to this program would be tinleaf which is also based on the tinfoil install code and xortrolls gui, giving it a similar feel and functionality but without the anime girl theme.
Lastly of the currently used installers we have goldleaf, which is xortrolls spiritual successor to tinfoil. Goldleaf has some features the other two lack, such as a web browser. However it supports the fewest formats, only nsp, and unlike tinfoil and awoo it wont check if a game is modified before installing, so it would be easier to accidentally install a malicious file using goldleaf.

How can a Nintendo Switch Pro compete with the Series S and PS5 Digital? Let alone the "full" versions of those consoles? A dedicated "Switch Pro", makes no sense business wise.

I'm mostly going off of UK prices here, the Switch sells for £300, that's about $410. In contrast, the xbox series S is £250 ($340), which is a way more powerful console, with more storage, bigger games, better online etc etc. It's not portable, but you can stream it to your phone, it can kinda do portable. This is ignoring the crazy value presented by game pass, The PS5 digital is £360, which is the price of a Switch + 1 game. For your money you get way more. So how is a Switch pro gonna compete? The Switch and Switch lite have a niche, they're cheaper (in the US), and more convenient. However, a "Switch pro" becomes a much harder sell if it's more than £300/$300, which it likely will be. Assuming the switch pro is £350, I just can't see it selling well. Casual Gamers will just opt for the OG Switch or the Lite, hardcore games will likely just get one of the "bigger" consoles and maybe a switch in addition. However, a Switch pro wouldn't really have a market expect for the few die hard nintendo fans who want to experience nintendo games in the best quality. Cloud games like hitman and control could help, but if the OG switch and Lite can play them, what's the point of the pro?

I'm just thinking aloud here, I'd personally buy a switch pro if it meant more "big" AAA games like Assassins Creed and Battlefield because I love the switch and it's convenience, but if a next gen system has the same convenience (fast loading times, being able to suspend games, quiet console etc). What's the point of buying a switch Pro for those games?

The Witcher 3 Renewed My Love of the Switch

I bought a Nintendo Switch a little over a year ago with a gift card I was given. With it, I bought Breath of the Wild, and a handful of indie games I wanted on a handheld device. At first I was a fan, but slowly I grew more frustrated with my experience. That is, until, I played The Witcher 3 on it. Let me explain...
Why a Lite and not a regular Switch? I have two kids under 3 and have little to no time to play games anymore. I have an Xbox One with GamePass Ultimate that I used to play regularly, but that’s fallen to the wayside and for the first time in 10 years I’m letting my Xbox subscription end. I was playing games more on my iPhone than anywhere else because I could pick it up and stop very quickly. And that was the appeal of the Lite: play at my pace, wherever I wanted, without being beholden to a TV or a separate controller.
I’m really into games with depth (western style RPGs), some RTS, and some FPS games. I never really got into the JRPG genre and have never been a fan of the gacha element some games offer. The Switch Lite would allow me to play the handful of games I really wanted to try by playing it on my time - when the kids and wife allow it.
What made me love the Switch? When I first played BotW, I was in love. Despite what some critics say, I found the game to be glorious as it allowed me to explore and adventure at my pace. And even on its tiny screen and with some of the limitations of the Lite, I still enjoyed every moment. So much so that I grinded away and went after almost every achievement (I didn’t bother finding all the korok seeds and one or two other things). I was almost sad to put that game away, but I was also content. The journey was worthwhile.
I saw my game library (digital only) grow quite quickly. I enjoyed Phoenix Wright (fun writing), Played through two houses in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, enjoyed quirky indies like Golf Story, and rediscovered classic gems on a handheld device like Doom and soon I’ll play The Bioshock Collection (played 1 in the past but never 2 and Infinite). But something was bothering me.
What kept my love at bay? Nintendo at its best is a magical experience that brings a smile to your face. This is due to the love they put into their games, story telling style, and their unique twists on a modern day console. However, when you compare Nintendo to its completion - at least, on paper - it’s a different story. Some of this still bothers me. Some examples.
Why is the Witcher special?
I’ve owned The Witcher 3 on Xbox GPU and even got a free copy on PC. When it came out on the Switch I paid attention to the reviews but scoffed at the price. The game is exactly what I love to play, but it’s also a huge investment. I know that it’s a rewarding experience, but again: life gets in the way. I can’t sit at the PC or Xbox and play it casually on my time. I get distracted all the time.
Finally, after talking to so many other gamers and friends who constantly were raving about this as one of their top games of all time, I decided to just do it. I bought the digital version at a slight discount (still far more than other platforms), and I started playing it casually.
The Witcher 3 is a wonderful port. CD Project Red despite their issues with Cyberpunk 2077 right now Saber Interactive did an absolutely glorious job at finding a balance of making the game feel like a first party Switch title, and not hampering the performance. I know, I know, people rightfully take issue with the graphics when connected to a TV and what not, but that’s not the point. If I wanted to play on a screen, I could on another platform. This game works perfectly on my Lite. I am immersed in it and I can stop and pick up at any moment throughout the day. I still have so much to do, but I’m finding myself go after every side quest and sub plot that I can - just like in BotW. It’s this form factor that allows me to easily battle enemies with the built in joy cons. It’s this form factor that has me loving games and wanting me to do nothing else but pick it back up. It’s glorious. Now I’m sure there are many of you who bought this game and didn’t enjoy playing it on a larger screen. I can imagine the disappointment with that, but at the same time - what more could you expect from a console that isn’t meant to be a powerhouse? At least the developer tried to deliver the experience on this platform.
TL;DR: Despite all of its flaws, the Switch really nailed an immersive experience that I needed in my gaming life, and I’m thankful to Nintendo for it. Also thank you to CD Project Red Saber Interactive for delivering an excellent port of a game that feels like it was meant to be on a portable device like the Switch.
EDIT: AmIajerk1625 pointed out that Saber Interactive did the port. Fixed above.
EDIT2: This post really seems to have struck a nerve with people on this subreddit. My intent was simply to share my experience of how I’ve been struggling to stay in love with this console, but this game made me realize why I love it. I suppose honest criticisms of the console aren’t welcome here.

Switch family online question

I’ve looked and I can’t find a solid answer to my question, hoping you guys can help. We own three switches, but really only purchase games on one account. I’m aware of the trickery that can be done to play the same game on a SECOND switch and it worked great when we only had two. But that’s not my current issue.
I primarily play games on the Switch Lite (during work hours from home lol) and most are downloaded games. Obviously I’m not expecting to be able to play the same games at the same time. My current problem is that if either of the other switches are playing ANYTHING associated with my account, I can’t launch a single game. And since all the games we buy are on my account, my son on the primary can play them using another account but my daughter on the first secondary is required to be on my account AND connected to the internet, which blocks me out of using any of the significant number of games I have purchased.
Is there a way around this issue? I’ve been eyeing the Nintendo Online family plan but unless it solves this very specific circumstance it isn’t worth it for me. Appreciate any input! Happy to answer clarifying questions if this isn’t clear

Splatoon vs. Pokemon

Hello, I bought myself anew switch lite AND Nintendo online and now I only have money for one game, I cannot buy another one in the near future because of money issues. I like both games, the only thing that is important is that I need the game that has more value for its money, more fun and more playtime. I never played Splatoon before but I know it, I played Pokémon since I was a child. So I don't know if I should go for nostalgia or for something new and I also do not know which game is overall more fun or has more playtime, I hope you guys can help me with this decision. :)

3DS or Switch?

I want a handheld console for some gaming, but as I have found out the older Pokemon games are not available on the switch, I'm hesitant to get it now. I see you can still buy them on the 3DS, but I see some posts about it being offline, and some say its still online. I know there are a few free to play games for the switch like paladins, but that would require wifi. Is it worth still getting a 3DS for just Zelda games, Pokemon games, and maybe smash 3DS? Or is it so outdated and unused that it would be pointless? And is sword/shield even worth getting for someone who prefers the older games like silvegold?
Edit: I'd also like to mention that at home, I am a pc gamer. So this is more or less for portable purposes, though, if I got the switch (not the lite) I would likely post videos and stream on youtube. So newer games and such that are not Nintendo related, I'm not really concerned with.
I appreciate any feedback!

How can I (F27) help my bf (M21) understand my point of view about inviting me over to watch him play video games?

Hey everyone,
Recently I had a fight with my boyfriend about video games and how we both view attention with each other differently. (TL;DR at the end of post sorry it’s a long one :))
I understand my boyfriend love video games and that he uses that as time to bond with his friends or just for stress relief. That’s why during Christmas I saved up to buy him a new gaming chair because I know he can get lost in his games. On top of that I purchased myself a Nintendo switch lite that I can carry around and play when he plays his game so I’m not stuck watching him play.
For my side of the story, I understand that he loves video games, but I get upset if he ask me to come over since we don’t live together with opposite working schedule. So he’ll ask me to come over by saying, ‘do you want to come over? But don’t feel forced to’ which to me is a suggestion that you want to spend time together because you would ask otherwise and I’m not shy about me asking him to hang out. Once I agree to coming over usually after work during the time it takes me to get to his house it’s like he invites his friend to get online to play games for hours. I’ve told him in the past just give me a heads up if you’re playing game that way I have something to distract myself either video games or finding shows to watch on my phone. After about three hours of me just being there doing my own thing and him still playing games I start to get irritated since it feels like he invited me over to watch him play video games with his friends when I don’t truly spend time with but maybe a few times a week since we use weekends for family time. All I would like is a heads up if he is going to play games so I can either do other things or go do something else instead of feeling obligated to stay and watch for hours.
His side of the story is that he doesn’t get to hang out with his friends because he see him less than me. He feels like I should understand that. He enjoys me just being there and he gives me attention for a few seconds in between his game play with friends. When he is not playing games he says I don’t give him my undivided attention which is usually after he’s played games for hours and I’m irritated after a few hours. He thinks that we should be able to play games all together but he gets very competitive with video games so he gets upset after losing.
[TL;DR: my bf invites me over and then plays with his friend online for hours after I get to his place. I’ve told him before just let me know if he wants me to come over while he play games so I can find ways to distract myself instead of being bored for hours since he can go for more than four hours and gets lost in his games. He enjoys me just being present and in the same room but I get bored after two hours of being on my phone when I barely spend time with him already. He feels like I should understand the situation and not have an issue because it’s his bonding time with friends and that I don’t give him enough attention anyway when we do spend time together. He suggest playing all together but him and his friends are super competitive and upset about lose when I’m not that great at games. ]
Any suggestions? Or advice that can help?
Please and thank you!

Other stuff I own are the Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch, the SNES Classic Mini and the Nintendo Mini Classics' version of Mario's Cement Factory, and I played the entire library those three contain.
Can you come up with something new for me to play that I might like, but is still a bit out of my current comfort zone? Thanks a bundle!
Edit: should probably list other games I have direct or indirect access to, but have not or barely played (yet):

Should I trade my xbox one s with a Switch Lite?

I've a xbox one s 2 TB edition, gifted to me. But, since it requires a XBOX Live Gold even to play Fortnite and Rocket League, I'm unable to make any use out of it as I cannot afford to buy XBL Gold subscription.
One guy I know is willing to exchange his switch lite with my xbox one s, where I can play free games like fortnite and rocket league for actually free without having to buy Nintendo Online service.
Is it going to be a good decision?
Or, is XBL Gold going away anytime soon as once rumored?
Thanks.

How should my quarantined husband and I play Fortnite BR?

SOLVED: We bought a used PS4 off online marketplace and had a friend deliver it to us. Thanks for all your advice!
Hi, hubby and I are stuck in home quarantine for 14 days and really want to play Fortnite BR. We used to both play mobile on iOS a lot but haven’t played since the ban. We don’t PC game or own any consoles. As far as I can see our options are:
  1. Try to follow the Golden YT tutorial to get it working on mobile. I still have the installed app on my 8+ but hubby just got a new 12 so doesn’t have it. I’m worried about comments saying it could break our laptops or brick our phones?
  2. Buy 2x cheap android phones and get Google store accounts? We can afford this, but can you play decently OK on a super cheap LG/Oppo burner?
  3. Buy two Nintendo switch lites (have to buy 2x because you can’t split screen on the TV right?) This is kind of expensive but TBH we are considering blowing the cash if it’s the best option.
Nice genuine advice appreciated, we’re kind of old and not really gamers but we really miss Fortnite. We only ever play with voice chat turned off because we’re not creeps, we just like playing BR. I could probably manage option 1 if I get genuine advice that it’ll work, I’ve installed plenty of software cracks/workarounds before. Thanks in advance!

(Switch) If I get another Nintendo Switch to play wi-fi co-op, do I have to create a second account and buy the game a second time to play with family members?

...or can I use the same account with the purchased game?
Also, can you play HoH local wi-fi games without a Nintendo Online account?
Third question: Does HoH work well on the Switch Lite?
What are my options for playing HoH co-op with household members, when we are currently playing primarily on the Switch?

Would you all recommend the game for the Switch (without being able to play online)?

I am asking y'all (you all) if you'd reccomend the game (Smash Bros Ultimate) even without being able to play online? I am thinking about getting the game if I can find it for sale (at my local gamestop), but I'm unable to afford the Nintendo online membership on my Switch (a Switch Lite).
I thank y'all for the help you've given.

Switch games that need to be updated to enjoy

I recently got a Switch Lite. Currently I'm playing BoTW and Mario Anniversary.
I haven't set up my Switch to go online or to connect to my internet and I don't have any desire to, preferring the system to just be offline.
Do these games or any other major Switch games greatly benefit from being updated?
I can think of so many major games on the other consoles/pc that release unfinished and started wondering about Nintendo games. I naturally assumed they wouldn't need to be updated.
Thanks

[REQUEST] [CONSOLE] [PH] Nintendo Switch Lite (Old or Cheap New)

Hello GoG, I'm Marco. I've only started using my Reddit regularly recently because I'm a busy college student and I never had time to start acting freely again because of the pandemic. I thought I might as well start using Reddit again because I don't really know what to do with my free time other than study.
So here's my story. I'm feeling emotional so please, bear with my extremely long post. Even if nobody gives me the console, it would make my day if someone actually read this through.
I've always been a gamer guy, playing strategy games on PC like Command and Conquer: Generals (my first game), LotR: Battle for Middle-Earth, Civilization, and FPS games like Counter-Strike, Black Hawk Down, and the first two Call of Duty games (it's the PH so all of these games were pirated lol). These games became part of my childhood and really shaped my interests growing up.
I grew up in a conservative and strict household. My parents divorced when I was 3. Of course as a child, I never really thought about it too much because I don't really remember anything except when I got my hands on an old computer my dad bought. I had a lot of fun and I felt like I had everything I needed; I had my dad who would play the games with me occasionally and I had the video games that I enjoyed playing.
Things changed when my dad got married again.
She really didn't like me and dad started becoming distant. She always ridiculed me and kept me away from the computer and dad. I only found solace in sleeping in my grandparents' room (we lived in their house). When they moved out because of fighting, they forgot to bring the computer. It was the first time in years since I got to play and when we got home from church, I booted up Spider-Man and played the hell out of it not only because I missed playing the game, but I also wanted to keep myself busy from the drama.
Growing up, I've always been bullied and ridiculed by my classmates and relatives because I wasn't the "ideal" kid who played sports or music, just a kid who loved playing video games. I wasn't the academic kind either, always barely getting into the honors list because I talked more about games rather than school subjects (Asian parents sigh). My parents really hated that I talked to my half-brother about games (the one thing that really bonded us to this day) as if I was a virus infecting their children. I at least had a small circle of friends who also played video games a lot, but they always made their parents proud and happy so they never really felt the way I do. Even my half-siblings get the stuff they want because they're their ideal kids. They get gifts, I don't. They get love, I don't. I'm the black sheep.
It really escalated when I didn't take a science high school curriculum exam because I was sick. My dad was super disappointed and sent me to regular high school. I thought it wouldn't be too bad but I was an immature brat back then. It was the worst 4 years of my life, away from my friends and I had to go through school being alone because I had nothing in common with anyone. Everyone was the "normie" stereotype, athletic and social and all that. That was the time I started playing Adventure Quest Worlds and League because at least online gaming had some sort of social interaction, some I still talk with to this day.
In my 9th grade, I got a failing grade on a subject and my dad unloaded on me. He blamed gaming for turning me into what I became. That day changed me because I realized what I've lost, also because I stopped playing League because of how I'm stuck in limbo with my rank. I started becoming more of a normie (without the athletic qualities of course). I started trying in school and making friends. I even had a somewhat-girlfriend and it was probably the best days of my junior high school life. When I graduated high school, I was able to get a scholarship with my grades (no money but I'm fully paid which is awesome)
Life was good.
Was.
I'm now studying in a course I half-like and half-dislike. I wanted to be a geologist but the program wasn't available locally, and my parents were unwilling to support me outside. I love what I'm doing because I know it can buy me out of the depression I feel and I can start a new life away from all of them, but I hate it because I've become lonely and all the friends I made are away again. I lost my girlfriend because I was socially inept and stressed. Worst of all, I'm playing into my parents' hands again and I never got to make the choices I wanted to make because, without support, they're out of my reach.
What made me realize this? RPGs.
With the scholarship, we got student laptops. Of course, with college being so strict and everything, I never got to play all the online games I used to play nor the strategy games I grew up playing because they just stress me out even more. I needed something to unwind. While looking for games on Google, I found Fire Emblem: Awakening (a strategy RPG). It was one of the best games I've ever played (Others might not share the sentiment because it's too easy, but as a newcomer to the series, it was awesome.) College was strict and limiting, so it took me like a week to even finish the game (I would play the most on Saturday nights)
From there, I started delving into other RPGs (mostly ones where I can create my own character) that my laptop could handle like FE Fates, Skyrim (surprisingly), Trails of Cold Steel, Fable 3, Dragon Age Origins, Fallout 3, and even other games that kind of branch out the RPG genre but still have that "I'm the character" feel like the Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires and WWE Smackdown HCTP. My love for video games had been reinvigorated.
What drew me towards these games? Living a life where I can decide how I want to live it. These games made me realize that I'm not in control of my own life. That I'm letting others decide what I want to do with it. I've come to envy the lives of the characters I've played in these games because they get to have happy endings while I envy that my life isn't all that liberating. I would sleep late because I would think deeply about life (Watching Oregairu didn't help either.) I've reverted back to the person I was proud of being, but I was also sad because I don't have the hardware to play the newer games.
It didn't help when Fire Emblem: Three Houses got released.
I saw the trailer while I was binging Youtube and I thought it was alright. After playing Fire Emblem, I would definitely love to play the game. The graphics, the gameplay, the new stuff, everything. I would avoid spoilers every darn time if it meant getting the most out of playing the game if I ever did. My problem is that I don't have a Switch and I don't have money (nor allowance) for one. I've saved up like 2K pesos (40 USD) with my quarantine savings for the past year but I know it will be a while till I actually get one, which I can't wait for anymore because we're already moving towards the next-gen and I have only ever played a few current-gen games like Trails of Cold Steel III and Civ VI, games I can hardly play because they crash my laptop midway or their performance turns me off.
One year later, I was sent back to my painful household due to quarantine protocols. I'm not being ridiculed as I used to when playing these games but I doubt they really care about what I do anymore. I replayed all my RPGs and old games but that's not as fun as playing new ones so I usually just stare at my screen nowadays, and now and I'm going back to college for laboratory classes. I'm going to be stranded at school with so much work and no time for myself, and only doing school stuff would kill my brain.
My birthday is coming up next week and I am once again spending it away from home. I know it's a long shot but it would mean the world to me to get a Switch. I could use my savings to get Three Houses, Civ VI, and maybe a game one of y'all could recommend to me. I could finally call something I want my own, and it would be the greatest feeling ever.
I don't have a gaming account since I've always pirated games, so I suppose Reddit will have to do.
