Best Online Gambling Sites, Big List for Reddit

I thought I’d put together a quick list of the best online gambling sites for the Reddit community. Feel free to add to this list with any of the best ones that I might have missed. Let’s try and make this a go-to resource for anyone who fancies a flutter :)
Here’s my list:
Bovada - Easily the standout choice for sports betting in the U.S. Loads of lines offered, in-play betting available, plus casino and poker games. Great welcome bonus too and it’s a super reputable site.
Ignition - Decent alternative to Bovada. I don’t personally use Ignition but I have a buddy who swears by it. Plus, the reviews on the likes of TrustPilot are highly favourable and it’s definitely a sportsbook you can trust. Best for poker.
PlayOjo - Excellent slots site! Comprehensive selection, lots of specials and again a really reputable site that you can’t go wrong with
Nitrogen Sports - Really good for sports betting but also has casino betting opportunities. Bitcoin accepted, I personally use it now and then for table games. Solid alternative to Bovada (though I use both because you can compare the odds)
LeoVegas - This is both a sportsbook and a casino but I prefer to use it for its casino games. Lots of promos, huge amount of games, good payouts

Bovada Alternative for Poker?

I have been using Bovada for many years both for a sportsbook and online poker. I have been unsatisfied with the lack UI upgrades, special features including chat. Bovada has major outage issues that concern me. The platform feels and appears low grade and weak. Almost like a low budget site. I live in the U.S. and have been researching alternatives to Bovada but haven't found much that stands out. I do like Bitcoin deposits which Bovada offers but it seems many other books and poker sites are also allowing this. Many sites are paid for advertisement and showcase Bovada in there list of best sites for Poker. I don't believe this will get disputed. I am just looking for feedback from other players about sites they may recommend. I know this question has come up before and I have read some reviews here on Reddit. Thoughts and or suggestions are appreciated. Regards - J

My Bovada Review

Wassssssup Reddit. Not gonna lie - I’m feeling pretty good right now. I just had a big win at Bovada casino (not for the first time) and I’ve seen so many of you’s on here bemoaning Bovada, saying it’s not legit, it’s not this, it’s not that, it cheats blah blah blah.
I’ve gotta say - I’ve always had an ace time on Bovada. Sure, I’ve won some, lost some but that’s gambling - that’s the way it is, bro! Can’t win it all the time.
Anyways I decided now’s the time to write a Bovada review (because I’m sick of the one sided Bovada reviews out there) for y’all because I’ve never seen so many Bovada haters in my life. In the sake of fairness I’ll also touch on a few aspects I don’t like about it too.
Interface
Real clean. Easy to navigate.
Casino Games
Spoilt for choice. Whether you wanna get lit playing blackjack, roulette, craps or poker, Bovada’s got a lot of choice.
True, there’s not as many blackjack variations as there used to be but there’s still plenty to choose from, including Double Blackjack.
Plus, you’ve always got a chance of winning. I turned $25 into $1200 the other week, no fooling.
Slots
Solid chance of winning on the hundreds of slots available. Maybe it’s just me but they seem to tighten up a bit when you’re using a bonus but again that could be me
Is Bovada Safe?
Safe as houses.
It’s been around since 2011 and uses a secure SSL-encrypted connection to keep your details safe. In all my time I’ve been there I’ve never had a thing to worry about.
Bovada Payouts
Yeah, the payouts can be a bit slow but so can all gambling sites. Bitcoin is super fast so I recommend you use that but bank transfer takes a few days, maybe even a week IDK I don’t use it anymore.
Fees
This bit sucks. If you make a deposit using your credit or debit card, you’ll be charged a 5.9% fee. Again, I recommend you use Bitcoin as there are zero fees involved.
International currency conversions are a bummer so I’ve heard too.
Is Bovada legal in the U.S.?
Yeah
eSports?
You bet, dawg. Bovada got the likes of LoL, StarCraft and Dota 2. OK it’s not the hugest selection of eSports games going but it’s got all the biggest names.
Sportsbook?
Bovada is actually the biggest US online sportsbook. There’s a huge amount of markets including baseball, NBA, NFL, NHL, tennis, horse riding, soccer etc.
Honestly, it’s really cool and there are plenty of in-play options.

Calculating EV for a Knockout Tournament

Hopefully you guys will like reviewing this hand. I've been thinking about it for two days. Long post, has tldr at bottom.
Super Turbo Short Stack KO tournament on Bovada.
Buy-in $20 + $2.50
KO worth $10
9 handed. Blinds 125/250, starting chip stack for tourney is 5,000 (now 20bb) and blinds raise every 6 minutes. The speed of the blinds raising plus aggression from the K.O. bonus had everyone jamming extremely light in previous hands, including both villains involved.
Hero is in the Big Blind. Folds to Low Jack, who just punted ¾ of his stack a hand or two before on a 3 barrel bluff. He opens for 2bb and has roughly 11bb behind.
Folds to short stacked Small Blind who jams making it 4.4 bb.
Hero holds Kh 5d in the Big Blind, and has a 34BB stack.
So it cost me 3.5bb of my 34bb to hope for a chance for 50% of my buy-in back. This is probably my first mental error, but can i ask what the EV of that is? How could I calculate that? I THINK i am supposed to play king rag here?
Anyways, I flat, with the Lowjack behind, who comes along. (Should I have raised all in at that point preflop if im going to try and play trash?) I find myself playing extremely loose starting hands in these situations for K.O's quite a bit, especially when I have a large stack. I basically only play hands this light in KO games, but anyways my logic follows like this:
Flop comes 9s 7d 9h I have Kh 5d
Obviously i have King high and will probably be playing the board for a kicker. Wait 10 seconds. Check to Lowjack. (Mistake #2?)
LowJack Villain tanks for more than half of time bank, then jams his 9ish remaining bb.
I took my time in game and figure it's a bad gamble to think of calling. But then…. He COULD be on tilt with his triple barrel that just failed.
My bad poker math put it at a gutshot possibility, so like 13%. I also could have been drawing dead. I told myself I should fold, but my logic, probably flawed, thought he could easily have ace rag, maybe even two overs like QJ where i am actually winning, or J 10 for a gutter.
I kinda felt like he did have a 7 given his hesitation. Villain acted quickly in previous hands, really didn't seem like he was completely light, and it didn't feel like had a 9 or he would have probably jammed instantly.
So now my gambling side rationalized I can break even on my buyin minus rake if I smash a king on this turn or river and get overall chip lead in an 80 man K.O. tourney. (I definitely wanted the leverage lol) I was basically sure I was behind, but felt like I was not dead in the hand. Then I thought, if I call and lose, i'm right back at my initial buyin amount, basically 21bb.
So of course I called because i'm a fish.
Lowjack had 6h7c (I did put him on something like this before I called) runout did not hit king, small blind had 3's and also lost to LowJack.
I had the bounty in my mind the whole time because i told myself before the hand even started I wanted to the small blind to my right to jam his 4bb and then the lowjack got involved.
Best i figure, i had 13% chance to win 90% of my buyin+ the comfort of having chip lead to really run up K.O.'s.
Again, if i lost it put me at starting stack, so i rationalized it as a free play at a free play??? Kind of an interesting situation i think, but i'm fairly sure most of reddit will think I am a fish for posting this and you will all scold me that I should have folded to the Lowjacks jam after the flop, or at least jam preflop after the SB.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
P.S. Another thing I noticed is that first place im a KO tourney doesn't pay as many buy ins as a traditional tournament. I would assume this affects the EV on situations like this?
Tldr
Hero has Kd 5h in the big blind with 34 bb stack. LJ has 13bb and min raises. SB jams 4.4bb. Hero calls and lowjack comes along. Flop comes 9s 7d 9h. Hero checks, Lowjack jams.
Hero stands to win $20 in bounties ($22.50 buyin) and will also gain a comfortable tourney chip lead of 80+ players in a K.O. tournament.
If hero loses, hero is back at initial buy-in stack, at the time effectively 20bb. Blinds raise every 6 minutes. Thoughts?

An Open Letter to the Moderators

I originally intended to send this letter to the moderation team directly. However, after expressing my concerns to two /poker moderators, I was encouraged by anonymous7, our great forum leader, to post my feelings publicly to the forum rather than privately to the mod team so as to foster "open discussion about the state of the moderation team."

Tagging Moderation Team of /poker: anonymous7/, NoLemurs/, dalonelybaptist/,BorkaBorkaBorka/, Stixx_27/, myimportantthoughts/, Touch_Of_Red/ , IrEgption/

Dear Touch_Of_Red,

You and I clearly do not see eye to eye on many issues. I would like to work on improving our relationship. In order to do so, I think we need to address a few issues.

With regard to "the recent history with your site" comment you made when removing a post I made comparing the rake schedules on a number of online poker sites, I can only assume that you are referring to Full Flush PokeEquity Poker Network and their recent failiure as a company. I'm not sure what devilish things you think I am guilty of, but there is quite a bit of misinformation floating about on various Internet poker forums. It seems as if you have read this information and bought it all hook line and sinker. I would like to offer additional information in hopes of changing your perspective on the matter.

You condemn me for being evil, but I help people on this forum every day. On many forums for that matter. I am frequently thanked here and elsewhere. In fact as of Feb 14th, the most recent 100 "comment replies" the word 'thank" has been uttered 13 times in direct response to my posts. A pretty good ratio on a downvote and troll happy board such as /poker don't you think?

I also easily comply with the 10:1 ratio of self promotion. Contrary to some of your prior accusations, I do not reply with "one word answers" intended to inflate my post count. In fact, I devised a little experiment to prove this. I copied both mine and your last 100 posts to /poker as of Feb 6th when I started writing this letter. I removed everything but the actual responses and numbered them (files available for review to anyone who wants them). Let's take a look at my metrics versus yours over the last 100 posts to /poker shall we?

Your word count = 3,472 Screenshot Proof My word count = 5,865 Screenshot Proof

Perhaps you think my website promotes "shady" and "unsafe" sites? I disagree wholeheartedly. I reject each and every site I'm unwilling to risk my own funds on. Here's a full list of sites we work with:
888, PokerStars, PartyPoker, Unibet, Betfair, Full Tilt, Bovada, Bodog, Ignition, America's Cardroom, Black Chip, True Poker, Ya Poker (you may not know this one, it is directly owned by ACR), BetOnline, Sportsbetting.ag, TigerGaming, SWCPoker, Grand Poker, Intertops, Juicy Stakes

You will note none of those crazy "play money" Iranian, Israeli, Asian poker sites are in that list. I do not find them worthy of risking my own money on, and thus I do not offer them to our clients. Period.

Since 2006 when we opened my website, we have had TWO poker sites fail that we promoted. Full Flush, and PokesPoker. They are separated in failure by 10 years. There were over 70 poker sites that failed during that time period. I think we have a good record for keeping our players away from crappy and terribly unsafe poker sites.

The Wiki [Editor's Note: This was part of a prior letter I wrote and wish to include it here as well]

Nearly 9 months ago when all of the controversy about the wiki was going on and right after TOR became a moderator, the decision was made to make the wiki only modifiable by moderators. I understand conflict of interest was the main rationale. I was also told that:
"Mods believe they have the time to use the wiki in a better way than it is being used right now."

This has proved utterly false. When I was editing the wiki (and I was the main editor for a year or so), I updated it 1-4 times per month as needed. In the nearly 8 months since the wiki was taken over by moderators, it has been edited two times. The first was to remove "affiliate influence and bias." The second was done less than a month ago to update Bovada to Ignition poker, a major event which had taken place a full 3 months prior to the edit).

In taking a quick glance over the wiki I saw over a dozen things that need to be updated. However, this is not being done. Mods are not keeping the wiki up to date and it is providing false and out of date information to readers of /poker.

I was also told that:

"Mods believe they can source discounts themselves, and due to non expectation of benefit for them sourcing it can get better deals than affiliates can."

This has also not happened. Not a single deal has been sourced. In fact, things are worse. A deal that gave out thousands of free dollars to poker subscribers was scrapped and never replaced. I fail to see the benefit to the forum in removing free money for subscribers. Other moderators agreed with me and wanted to keep the program live, but were seemingly overruled.

I will admit that I was not perfect and that some things could have been handled differently in the wiki, but in the last year I edited the Wiki and the FAQ, after ground rules were set, I always sought moderator approval for changes I thought might be controversial (DaLonelyBaptist/ can confirm this). I also strived to keep the Wiki as up to date as my time would allow, which turns out to be at least 15x more frequently than it is currently being updated.

I believe that much of this stems from Touch_Of_Red 's dislike for me. I think he seeks to punish me, "the evil spammer," for some perceived harm he has suffered. I do not think I am what he claims me to be. I constantly help players with issues on this forum, 2+2, CardsChat, and other smaller forums. I receive thanks quite often and I have NEVER been banned from any forum for spamming because I adhere to the stated rules of all forums I participate in.

I do not think it is fair to reduce knowledge and opportunity for /poker subscribers simply to punish me because TOR doesn't care for me. I think that if the Wiki rules were reset to what they were prior to TOR becoming a mod, that I could do an even better job of updating the wiki than before. In fact, I've learned a little bit of reddit coding and I feel that I can improve the format of the wiki as well as keeping it up to date, useful, and providing added value to the subscribers of poker.

Thanks for your time and thoughtful consideration. I hope that we can improve our relationship and come to some mutual understanding,
Prof

EDIT: To the people who still continue to bang the drum that I owned Full Flush Poker, in full, or in part, that is simply untrue. If you want to know who the owners are, look here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showpost.php?p=51452632&postcount=2282 . Were things misrepresented to me and did I believe it? It appears the sad truth is, yes. As I said above, I'm going to help anyone who gets in contact with me and lets me know how much they lost. I'm on track to have some sort of public offer up within the next two weeks fingers crossed if I can get more poker sites on board.

[Bovada] Difference between 5NL and 25NL

How much toughedifferent is 25NL?
Been playing 5NL here and there with decent success over the last couple years. Studying the game for a long time time. But mostly playing for fun with decent results 4.22bb/100 ~42k hands on bovada + 12k on carbon heres an old post I made w results)
5NL isnt that enticing and can afford depositing another 300-400 in and giving 25 a shot. dont wanna rush into 100nl and get crushed.
Would this transition be hard or is it similar in difficulty to 5nl? With my results could I be a winner at 25?
PS - looking to pay for some db review if anyone can help out
