I’ve decided to publicly tell my story because I am sure at least one of the roughly five million Americans who have a gambling disorder likely feels, as I did, at the mercy of their addiction ... I'm sure my story has been told through someone else's eyes a thousand times but mine is unique to me. My road to destruction all started back in October of 2017. Gambling Addiction Horrors. When I was asked to share my story, I didn’t hesitate. I think it’s so important for people to see that everyday, regular people can have a gambling addiction. And by telling my story I hope I can help others and reduce the shame of compulsive gambling. Looking back on it, I guess it’s not surprising that I developed a gambling problem. Racing, the thoroughbreds, the trots, the dogs — I wasn't fussy, so long as I could get a bet on and fuel that addiction. As part of my recovery, I’ve decided to launch this podcast and blog.
